Anti-Hazing Policy
Hazing will not be tolerated in SISTUHS, Incorporated. No member of this organization has the right to inflict physical, mental, financial, sexual or emotional harm on a person or to demean, disgrace, or degrade a person. Hazing is prohibited and defined in statues of each state. All forms of hazing by any Member or Prospective Member are expressly prohibited. Serious penalties, such as expulsion from SISTUHS, Incorporated and legal ramifications, will be imposed on Prospective Members, Members, and Chapters found in violation of these rules.
For the purpose of this organization “hazing” means any action, activity, or situation, which recklessly, negligently, or intentionally endangers the mental, emotional, financial, sexual or physical well being of any individual. Any member or chapter actions or activities that inflicts or intends to inflict physical, mental, financial, sexual or emotional discomfort, or which may demean, disgrace, or degrade any person regardless of location, intent, or consent of participant(s). Hazing usually is related to a person’s initiation, admission into, or affiliation with, any group or organization. However, it is not necessary to have direct proof that a person’s initiation or continued membership is depended upon participation on the activity for a charge of hazing to be upheld.
Hazing includes, but is not limited to:
Interference with an academic or professional performance.
Forced consumption of any food, alcohol, other drugs, or any other substance.
Forced physical activity, such as calisthenics.
Deprivation of food or sleep.
Kidnapping.
Forced sexual activities
Forced financial activities
Any activity that would subject the individual to embarrassment or humiliation.
Collegiate Chapters must uphold and enforce their college/university hazing policy, which is outlined in the bylaws of the chapter.
