SISTUHLY Salutations! I am Tyra A. Ruiz, and I am both honored and empowered to serve as the current South Florida Regional Director! SISTUHS, Incorporated, holds a special place within my heart and has always been one of the largest guiding organizations in my passion for service to the black community.

Regional Director Ruiz was born in Miami Florida but comes from a Haitian Heritage which has influenced her love for catering to the needs of others. She was inducted into the Florida Atlantic University Undergraduate Chapter in the Fall of 2022. Soon after her induction due to her outstanding performance, she was voted in as President. As the President, she took a natural role of leadership, mentorship, and influence for her community. Aiding her Chapter in reviving Chapter traditions for breast cancer awareness programs, donating supplies for children in need in the local areas, and even catering to environmental needs. She also ran the logistics of two committees as head of Public Relations and Political Action. RD Ruiz maintained all of these roles including president until she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from FAU in Spring 2024. Prior to her graduation, she received national recognition as the SISTUH of Substance and Spirituality at the National Conference in 2022.

Upholding a love and respect for this organization Regional Director Ruiz continues to influence the black community through these positions, acts of service, and mentorship. She will continue to be a source of support and insight for her region because she believes that in order to truly impact our communities we must be willing to impact one another!

In order for us to have a better future, we have to start by healing ourselves and our communities.
